Contendro I needs no introduction. He is the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019 World #1 Eventing Sire and World #25 Jumping Sire! He is also the only sire in the world in the top 20 of the CSO and Eventing rankings, with also some international winners in Dressage.
Contendro I’s sire, the legendary Contender, is one of the world’s leading jumping sires. His notable offspring include the likes of Montender (Marco Kucher), individual European gold medalist 2005; Checkmate (Meredith Michaels Beerbaum), team gold WEG Kentucky 2010; and Carlo (Nick Skelton), individual European bronze medalist 2010. He can also be found in the pedigrees of the top stallions Chellano Z and Balou du Rouet.
Contendro’s first dam, Bravo, is also the dam of the licensed stallions, Caretano Z (by Caretino), 1997 Reserve Bundeschampion, 1999 World Champion of 7-year old show jumpers, and a World Cup Finalist in Gothenburg, Sweden, and of Contendro I’s full brothers Contendro II and Cassito (by Cassiano). She also gave birth to Contendro’s full sister, BB Caretana, ridden by Niklaus Schurtenberger of Switzerland, a highly successful international show jumping mare.

La Bamba’s dam line is a who’s who of international showjumping super sires. His dam High Tune NZPH is sire by the legendary Kannan –

His dam’s dam, Tune to Blues NZPH is by Mr Blue, a legacy in sport horse breeding. Mr Blue enjoyed an extremely successful jumping career being a winning Nations Cup and World Cup mount and was also selected for the Atlanta Olympic Games. However his real success began when he was purchased by GFE and began his stud career. His offspring have proven to be remarkable, producing a range of top level show jumper’s and Grand Prix winner; Plot Blue who carried Marcus Ehning to victory in the 2010 World Cup final in Geneva is perhaps the most successful. His breeding legacy is also being continued through his offspring, such as Zirocco Blue VDL who is following in his father’s footsteps as a world class show jumper and sire.
