Cardinal ECPH is TOP quality filly with all the attributes you search for in a jumper. Eye-catching looks, big movement and a very impressive free jump. This mare is a natural athlete with the pedigree to match. Photos and videos are from her first and only time free jumping, her instincts and technique are outstanding. This is a future prospect for the top of the sport. Her pedigree is also remarkable with bloodlines that are difficult to find within New Zealand, giving her the additional benefit of adding breeding value to your team.

Sire Carrera VDL combines the blood of two Olympic sires Cardento X Baloubet du Rouet. Carrera himself competed at the highest sport under Jur Vrieling, with wins and success at 1.50m and Nations Cup level. His offspring have exceeded him with many progeny competing to 1.60m.

Cardinal’s dam sire is none other than Zirocco Blue VDL, one of Europe’s leading modern sires. Zirocco Blue was a prolific competition horse himself outstanding 5* results internationally, his career highlight was undoubtably team gold at the European Championships. His breeding career has proven to be even more outstanding with many 5* jumpers, approved sons and even a World Equestrian Games gold medal winner.

Carrera is a striking and interestingly bred horse from a combination of two Olympic stallions. Sire, Cardento, won three Silver medals under Peter Eriksson at the Olympics, the World Championship and the European Championship. As a sire Cardento is a producer of international jumping offspring who participate at European and World Championships and the Olympic Games. Grand sire, Baloubet du Rouet, was Olympic Champion with Rodrigo Pessoa; a three-time winner of World Cup Finals; and also claimed the winner’s sash in several GP’s and World Cup Qualifiers. Baloubet du Rouet is also famous as the sire of VDL Bubalu, Palloubet d’Halong and Chaman among others.

Carrera shone under Jur Vrieling with whom he was successful at the highest level. Carrera started strong with the winning of the Grand Prix Vestfold. Before he won the Grand Prix of Wolden, a 1.50m class in Bonheiden and in Oldenburg. With the Dutch team Carrera won the Nations Cup in Drammen.

Sire: Zirocco Blue VDL

Cardinal’s dam sire is none other than Zirocco Blue VDL, one of Europe’s most prolific competition and breeding stallions.

Wherever Zirocco Blue competes all eyes are upon him with his scope, jumping style and efficiency. Under Jur Vrieling he has achieved several very impressive international results. They won the Team Gold Medal at the European Championship and individually were 5th. In the Las Vegas World Cup final they finished 10th. The World Cup of Oslo, the Grand Prix’s of Kopenhagen, Melsomvik (2x) and Geesteren, the Masters in Mechelen – all saw Zirocco wearing the winner’s sash. As a member of the Dutch team they won the Nations Cup of Rotterdam, Kopenhagen and Gijon. In the Dutch Jumping Championship he was 2nd.

Zirocco Blue performs exceptionally well in the sport but also in breeding. 2018 Was the year of the champions for Zirocco Blue. Willem Greve won the championship title with the seven-year-olds in the Blom Cup in Ermelo with Gogo Karla V, but at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon there was much more spectacle for Zirocco Blue. His son Eddie Blue won the golden team medal under Devin Ryan with the American team. Eddie Blue finished second in the World Cup Finals earlier and tied one top performance after the other. A second place in the Grand Prix of Ocala, second in GP Toronto, second in Toronto World Cup, second in Nations Cup of Aachen, second in Nations Cup of Sopot, third in Grand Prix of Devon, and so on. It was not for nothing that Eddie Blue was chosen as the best jumping horse in the United States. This is just a small example of Zirroco Blues many top level progeny.
