He is the first foal of dam Gigi NZPH who is a sister to Grand Prix jumper Drama NZPH and the lovely upcoming mare Dakota NZPH who is ridden by Hannah Bodle. He is also one of the first progeny sired by Inverness NZPH, a very impressive young colt. Inverness is not yet under saddle but shows great potential combining the world class blood of Contendro I, Kannan and Mr Blue. Acquiring the progeny of young sire can be a great asset, being ahead of time as the sire develops and shows their quality.
Merlin is a lovely sport horse from young blood, showing a new generation of exceptional quality.

Inverness NZPH is a young stallion with an outstanding pedigree and ability. He combines the world class blood of Contendro I, Kannan and Mr Blue. He is correct colt showing athleticism, scope, carefulness and great trainability. This is his first year standing at stud and his progeny seem to be inheriting all his great qualities.
His sire Contendro I needs no introduction. He is the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019 World #1 Eventing Sire and World #25 Jumping Sire! He is also the only sire in the world in the top 20 of the CSO and Eventing rankings, with also some international winners in Dressage.

Dam Lines:
Merlin’s dam Gigi NZPH is by the fantastic Cabdula du Tillard (Abdullah x Galoubet A) who won many international victories under Edouard Coupérie’s saddle, including the Grand Prix d’Alençon in 1999. Cabdula was a maternal half-brother to Olympian Viking du Tillard, who was ridden by Hervé Godignon, as well as the great winner Mic Mac du Tillard, while their dam was a maternal half-sister of the Selle Français’ treasure, Jalisco B. From Rome to Dublin, indoors and out, in Grand Prix and speed events, he has more than 150 victories and rankings at the CSI level, and six consecutive years with an ISO above 160, all with the same rider, which is a performance, that is to our knowledge unequalled to date for a French stallion.
