Sire Jardonnay VDL is a young stallion at just 8 years old, who is currently competing at 1.40m level internationally and at the early stages of his sport and breeding career. His pedigree exemplifies performance breeding. Sire, Kannan, has been one of the world’s best producers of show jumpers. Progeny include Quabri de l’Isle, Quorida de Treho, Molly Malone V, Diva II and previously Olympic champion Nino des Fuissonnets. The influence of the ‘Preferrent’ stallion Indoctro VDL has been huge among these offspring, as well as the stamp of great-grandsire Lux – regularly sought when breeding great show jumpers.

Jingo’s dam Cinncinati ECPH combines one of New Zealand’s most well known sires, Cassiano, with her imported dam Picarla’s world class bloodlines which include Pionier, Oldenburg and Joost. Their names can be found in the pedigree of countless international jumpers. She is also a maternal sister to the legendary Mr Blue, sire of Zirroco Blue VDL.

 

Sire: Jardonnay VDL

Jardonnay’s pedigree exemplifies performance breeding. Sire, Kannan, has been one of the world’s best producers of show jumpers. The combination of the powerful Kannan with the beautiful mare, Duzella (dam of Jardonnay VDL) seems to be outstanding. She, herself, is a celebrity as well. In 2011 Duzella was the Dutch Champion of the 3-year old mares in Ermelo. One year later, Duzella’s sister, Ella, was the Brabant Province Champion mare further confirming this damline. Jardonnay’s grandam, Uzella, was awarded ‘Keur’ and ‘Preferent’ in addition to producing the 1.45m show jumper Bocelli ridden by Guy Goosen. Great-granddam, Ozella produced Dubai, a gelding by Cardento who is performing at Grand Prix level with Mavis Spencer. The 1.50m show jumper Tavarone is another Ozella son.

Designated ‘Champion’ of the 2017 KWPN stallion show in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Jardonnay VDL went on to prove his quality receiving the KWPN license. Scoring 84 points in the KWPN Stallion Test, the scores for scope, canter and reflexes were awarded 8.5, with the same for rideability, dedication and talent as a showjumper.

Jardonnay VDL is an eye-catcher with his fantastic type and his three good gaits. He has a wonderful attitude and jumps with enormous scope and a super technique. These qualities he has shown as well in the stallion competitions where he constantly performs with good results.

Dam Sire: Cassiano

Cassiano is one of the top Cassini I stallions of the Holsteiner Verband. He combines Cassini I and Calypso II, two legendary stallions of the Holsteiner breed.

Cassiano is a superbly athletic type with a tremendous jump and exceptional technique. He also has extravagant movement. He has produced many licensed stallions and numerous premium mares both in New Zealand and Europe. Cassiano’s progeny speak for themselves having left a real stamp on the New Zealand showjumping and eventing scene.

Cassiano’s mother, Zivia, produced six offspring, four of which were successful jumping Grand Prix. One of these six was Chim Cristo, by Carthago who jumped nationally with Karsten Lauch and later internationally with Andrea Ripke and then on with the Korean rider Son Bong Bak who had an individual 14th placing at the Athens Olympics. Cassiano’s mother has two approved sons, the other one is Carambo now ridden by Arnaud Dobber of Holland.

Grand Dam: Picarla

Picarla is a career broodmare who combines some incredible bloodlines which have resulted in her producing multiple grand prix jumpers overseas prior to her arrival in New Zealand. She comes from an incredibly strong dam line, her mother Acarla was a phenomenal broodmare herself who most notably produced Mr Blue. Mr Blue was a World Cup jumper and an Olympic Games mount who also bred many fantastic offspring including one of modern jumping current most popular sires Zirroco Blue VDL.

Picarla’s world class bloodlines include Pionier, Oldenburg and Joost. Their names can be found in the pedigree of countless international jumpers.
